Supporting Israel is in the DNA of Czech politics

The Czech Republic has been in the forefront of countries helping Ukraine from the very beginning politically, militarily, and offering humanitarian assistance – Vít Dostál, Executive Director of AMO, Association for International Affairs told Dr. Sebastian Rejak, Director of AJC Central Europe, adding that three of the V4 countries are staunch supporters of Kyiev, Hungary is more reluctant.
Dostál spoke about the new Czech President, saying Petr Pavel is much more likely to work in harmony with the government, compared to his predecessor. This cooperation will be much more apparent in the Czech foreign policy, enjoying a consenssus in supporting Ukraine. Also, there is a continuation of support for Israel, which, Dostál underscores, is “in the DNA of Czech politics”.
The foreign affairs expert said, while there is a good chance for Ukraine to join NATO, more important would be accepting it to the European Union. This would be important for the reconstruction of the country once the war is over.
