Fact: Israel Has Provided Tremendous Humanitarian Assistance to Ukraine

Can we predict the impact of Ukraine’s counter-offensive on Russia? What are the hopes for the Ukrainian Jewish community returning to Ukraine? Is Israel doing enough in helping Ukraine? Michael Brodsky, Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine answered these question in the latest episode of 7 Minutes from Central Europe, an interview series by AJC Central Europe.
While Michael Brodsky, Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine spends half of his time in Warsaw, the other half he spends in Kiev. Therefore, he has first-hand knowledge of what is happening on the ground. Related to Ukraine’s surprise counter-offensive, he explained, nothing is predictable in this war, as it was the case with the outbreak of the war itself. The Israeli Embassy in Kiev is constantly alert, monitoring the situation and maintaining constant contact with Israelis in Ukraine.
Ambassador Brodsky also spoke about how they are experiencing a slow return of the Jewish community to Ukraine, while the majority of Jewish leaders have stayed in the country. The embassy is expecting, however, the more than 10.000 Ukrainian Jews who have made aliyah, to stay in Israel.
We were the only country to deploy a field hospital in Ukraine at the beginning of the war.
– Ambassador Brodsky explained, while mentioning Israel’s support to the war-torn nation. The Jewish state has provided tremendous humanitarian assistance such as medical help, instant meals, fresh water, and medicine. Regarding military assistance, Ambassador Brodsky said, even the Ukrainian Defense Minister has stated, the Iron Dome would be practically useless in Kiev’s defense against Russia. There is however never enough help Ukraine would need in the time of such devastating war.
