The U.S. is Latvia’s key partner

Latvian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Jānis Bordāns was the guest of a new video interview series by AJC Central Europe, titled “Seven Minutes from Central Europe.” The series will highlight interesting people from the Visegrad and the Baltic nations, and bring you analyses on the hottest topics of the region – in just seven minutes.
The United States is Latvia’s main partner, not just in the NATO context, but also in fighting corruption and building democracy –
Deputy Prime Minister Bordāns said in response to AJC CE Acting Director Dr. Sebastian Rejak’s question about his recent meeting with U.S. State Secretary Blinken. Bordāns emphasized the importance of international alliances as guarantors of peace in the region.
The Deputy Prime Minister also discussed Latvia’s concerns regarding Russia’s territorial ambitions in Ukraine, and the humanitarian crisis on Belarus’s border with Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, which the Lukashenko regime has created in an attempt to destablize the EU.
